The cross-country track starts off on a large gravel access road that allows the bunch to sort itself out before entering a short piece of single track. Once past this point you meander through coastal indigenous bush for approximately 600 metres. There are more than ample over-taking opportunities along this stretch of track. Now with the easiest part of the track in your rear-view mirror you will be entertained by bumps, dips, roots, rocks, twists and turns. Here there are switchbacks a plenty that will test your balance and ability to accelerate from a near dead stop. Once at the highest point you may have a second or two to regain your breath before entering one of the most challenging descending sections of the route. Here you will negotiate ruts, large drops and narrow tracks. Your heart rate is almost guaranteed to be maxed out from the sheer exhilaration of the descent to the finish area.
