There are three specially designed routes which include a 60, 40, and 20 routes which go through some of the wine farms in the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy and are specially designed to cater for cyclists of all levels and various needs and interests.
The 60 kilometre marathon ride is a tough mountain bike test with big climbs, technical single track sections and fast, rocky descents. This route should not be attempted by novice mountain bikers as it is as much a test of technical ability as fitness. The challenge is there and will test your single track skills and will even present you with a river crossing or two.
The shorter 40 kilometre ride goes over the Simonsberg in a westerly direction. Here you will be treated to beautiful vineyard views together with some testing climbs towards Plaisir de Merle Estate. Finally the route returns to Boschendal for a fast, flat finish. This event is aimed at capable and experienced riders. It is important to stay in control of your bike at all times.
