The Kluitjieskraal Mountain Bike route is a challenge whichever way you look at it. Parts of it include the first stage of the Absa Cape Epic 2010, just west of Wolseley. The area is famous for its spectacular scenery but it is notorious for its challenging hills. Some of the climbing takes you to over 400 metres above sea level, followed by rocky technical descents on narrow jeep and single track. This is a water rich route which passes through the MTO forestry reserve and crosses the Waterval Mountains twice. Be prepared to get your feet wet on the numerous water crossings. The 60 kilometre ride is a stern challenge and is designed only for the most competent rider. The intermediate 40 kilometre course has its moments, tough but also scenic. The moderate 25 kilometre and the eight kilometre routes are aimed at inexperienced bikers.
