All stages start and finish at the Storms River Village. All stages start at 08h30.
Day 1 - Total distance: 47 kilometres. Total ascent: 680 metres. The first day’s riding is fairly short but with some stretch. The route first takes you in a westerly direction into the lush indigenous forests just above MTO's Lottering plantation. These well preserved forests and jeep tracks are man-made and create a wonderful riding experience. The route takes a sharp turn to the south and takes you towards the ocean through more forests, past water point one to Storms River mouth. The two kilometre climb out of the valley is steep and unrelenting. The watering point at the top is welcome and heralds an easy canter back to the showers.
Day 2 - Total distance: 63 kilometres. Total ascent: 860 metres. Today is the longest day offering rare treats and surprises. First you cross the Storms River gorge and cycle through the beautiful Bluelillies Bush plantation onto The Fernery, a 109 hectare forest fern estate and lodge bordering on the Tsitsikamma National Park. This unspoilt landscape takes you on a trail that hugs the rugged Tsitsikamma coastline. Here there are rare and spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and drop-offs to the sea far below. The second water point lies far above the Storms River mouth and overlooks the valley below. One last climb, one last push and soon enough with the Storms River at your back, you are back at the village.
Day3 - Total distance: 45 kilometres. Total ascent: 790 metres. Once again the day’s opening stages feature the Storms River gorge and the beautiful Bluelillies Bush plantation. From here the routes takes a sharp turn to the north and crosses under the national road where you ride on the southern slopes of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. The views are breathtaking and the tracks are smooth. The return journey takes you through Africa’s own Eden riding under canopies of indigenous trees and crossing the fern infested ancient rivers. Soul-time, pure soul-time.
