The 82 kilometre race can be conveniently broken down into three distinct stages. The first, through Seweweekspoort, is 26 kilometres long and climbs approximately 600 metres. This part of the road goes through the Swartberg Nature Reserve and Water Catchments Area. The second stage back through Seweweekspoort is largely downhill. This is an exhilarating section. The third section, which joins the same route as the 25 kilometre Mini Challenge will again prove challenging.

The 25 kilometre Mini Challenge crosses a few streams, which may prove tricky depending on the rainfall. Here there are some single track and gravel roads which take you through fruit farms in the magnificent Hoeko Valley. The most strenuous uphill sections are encountered in the last 10 kilometres before the finish line.
