Day one features a day/night ride with at least two thirds of the course in the dark. To compensate the route is a moderate 40 kilometre outing with a total ascent of just over 700 metres. The second day’s ride is an entirely different story with an ascent of 1,400 meters. The 60 kilometre course embraces a combination of well-worn trails that are open throughout the year with the two famous climbs, “Death Drop” and “Dead Man Walking". The closing section promises few big hills. The final day’s 40 kilometre ride goes up to the Bo Swaarmoed area for the first time. Close to the infamous Matroosberg Mountain, most of the climbing is done in the first 15 kilometres. The good news is there is a fast finish single track ride which is mostly downhill all the way to the end.
