This ride is staged over two days through some of the Cape’s most interesting and diverse terrain. It includes three mountains, a world biosphere reserve and three conservation areas. It goes over 20 farms, eight wineries and includes rides through forests, fynbos and grasslands.
Day 1 - Distance: 48 kilometres. Total ascent: 800 metres. The first day is a moderate to easy day with little technical content. The route crosses the Riviersonderend twice and takes you to Snyerskraal, Berea, Voorstekraal and Genadendal. Leave something for the closing stages, which is where you will find most of the climbing.
Day 2 - Distance: 50 kilometres. Total ascent: 760 metres. The second day takes you over Happy Valley, it is a sweat but the view is worth it. The course takes you to Lismore and onward to Oaks. As you did yesterday you cross the Riviersonderend twice. The closing kilometres offer a choice of single track surfaces or an easier gravel road to the finish.
